Integrating Fosi VOL20 / Creating alternative remote.

Hello All,

I really enjoy Wiim Products and have already Mini , Pro Plus, Amp and Ultra is on the way.
One thing that I do not enjoy so much is remote.
Would it be possible to integrate metal know remote from Fosi , as it is Bluetooth also ? This is just example, maybe Wiim have something similar in plans, but it would be awesome to just leave it on desk and have functions like click to start playing, rotate to control volume, double click to mute, etc. It would look elegant and be easy to use for all my family members.

Given that the WiiM Home app seems to react to your device volume controls, wouldn’t pairing one of these with your phone that’s running the WiiM home app do the trick?

Not exactly. Pairing this with would steer just Wiiim home app volume. Next track and other functionality are not. Also I would like just to play playlist and not use phone and still have option for everybody to change volume or skip tracks.

I asked for support on this. I asked for a community. I've been disliked and reviled by everyone. Everyone thought I was old and not modern. For some reason, modern people hate rotary volume knobs. Everyone likes to poke their fingers at the remote or buttons. There's something wrong with people. And yes. I too would really like to connect a bluetooth volume knob, but a different model (jbl). Same functionality. I can understand people not wanting it. But yet they vote against it like it's a bone across their throats.

I also have a VOL20 and would like to use it to control the volume of my Wiim Ultra.
My Wiim Mini actually connects to the VOL20, however the only thing that does anything is a single click on the play button: it re-starts the current song. For anything else, the Wiim's led flashes but it doesn't do anything.
So for this to work:
1. The Wiim device needs to be able to pair with more than one remote (I still want to use the current remote)
2. Once paired, it needs to recognize the VOL20's commands correctly (mainly volume)
Wiim sells their remotes separately, so they probably don't want to make it easy to use other remotes.

Connecting the VOL20 to my phone or tablet is not a workaround for me. Having to open up the app on my phone for it to work, defeats the purpose...

WiiM don’t make their remotes afaik - in fact, they’re very similar to other Bluetooth remotes. I think they’d need to have a bespoke development of a new remote to meet some feature requests.

Was about to log a similar thread so bumping this one.
I hate using the remote for volume - I need something visual and / or tactile to know it’s working.
Used to have a Devialet Pro amp and the remote was just out of this world, a beautiful rotary dial, and you just knew the tiniest turn would be picked up, even if the display on the amp was out of sight.
With the buttons on the wiim remote I just don’t know if each press is recognised and end up holding it down and going too far! (Wiim is hidden away so can’t even see any flashing light to reassure me it’s been picked up)

Even a little light confirming the request is sent on the remote would be better than nothing

Here’s hoping they have a fancy remote in the planning
