Introducing AI Answers in Forum Search (Beta)

I must say that I'm not keen on anything involving AI, as it is usually guaranteed to be largely inaccurate, or simply just wrong.
I can’t say I disagree - in the realm of general searches, in my experience AI is unreliable trash. But if, as Ryan has noted, its use here is limited to consuming and digesting forum content, I think the risk of it spewing useless BS is greatly reduced. That being said, I’ll still take whatever it throws at me with a grain of salt until it proves its worth.

Does that mean I often make mistakes? 🤣🤣🤣

The real AI has arrived, so the day I apply for unemployment benefits is definitely drawing near.😂
I was going to post that in my opinion indeed it does many mistakes...but after the joke it could lead to not wanted conclusions 🤣🤣.

Thankfull for yours and all the usual suspects help

Hi @RyanWithWiiM,

Like @slartibartfast, my Android Chrome browser also can't display AI responses. Disabling automatic translation didn't help either. I suspect some security setting is interfering—do you know what it might be?

It displays correctly in the Samsung browser.

hmm, seems to be working on my Chrome and Firefox browsers on my Android phone. We'll look into it some more.

I guess I've identified the cause.

When the forum skin is changed to WiiM Purple (Light), AI responses are displayed, but they do not appear with any other skins.
(I use Green Dark)

Once again you absolutely nailed it. (y)

You can even leave the search results window open, change the style in another window, and refreshing the search results page will make the AI results disappear/reappear.

Should be easy to fix (I hope).

I've asked for a helpful/unhelpful option. If they add that, you can use unhelpful and say it's wrong.
Looks like this is implemented now, already. Visuals are a bit rough and I hope the results are really used for training the AI.

One more thing: I feel like the AI results should not take up all the space it needs for its (delayed) answer. This will disturb those who didn't care to wait for a result to be generated and are flipping through the conventional results.
Instead, a fixed portion (not too high) of the screen should be reserved for ani AI response and a "show more" action should be employed to expand the full result, if desired.

And as a short follow-up: A structured way of catching feedback regarding what exactly was unhelpful (or plain wrong) could be helpful. At least in the form of a couple of radio buttons, ideally combined with a text field (the content of which AI could then analyse automatically 🥸).

Agree. I asked about “Deezer Connect” and its response suggested it was a feature, clearly confusing connecting to Deezer with a Deezer Connect feature, even though the first couple of forum hits explained the true situation. A text box explaining what it got wrong would be useful.

I was so happy to find that WiiM acquired RoomPerfect from Lyngdorf ... but no ... ;)

It might be useful if you could ask further questions of the AI search, or append information to improve its response. For example, it gave a reasonable answer to whether you could use active speakers with a WiiM amp, but omitted to say that if you really wanted to do that, a usb to optical convertor or DDC could achieve it. That’s where forum responses would give that “added value” that the AI currently doesn’t.
