For me, this is just plain daft.
My music station is also my PC desk. That won't be true of everyone, but it will be for a significant minority.
Having an app on my PC identical to that on my phone and tablet would just be easier, no more and no less. In general, mouse movement/click is better (and quicker/more accurate) than touch screen. Typing in search terms when you need to is easier and more accurate on a manual QWERTY keyboard than a tiny touchscreen keyboard. Viewing the app, album art, etc., is nicer on a PC monitor than a tiny smartphone, or small-ish tablet screen. We all know that.
I'm amazed I've even had to type that to make such an obvious point.
Is it really that difficult to replicate the app from one platform for another? I have the Sonos app on PC and phone, Amazon Music app on PC and phone, Spotify on PC and phone. Lots of other (non-music) apps on PC and phone. Many of them created by conglomerates far smaller, and with fewer resources than Linkplay (who own WiiM).
I can only think it's the mindset of software developers who think no one has a PC anymore.
