Hi there,
I recently bought a Wiim Ultra.
My intention is to stream DSF from Raspberry Pi-NAS (openmediavault) via DLNA to my Pioneer VSA-LX805. Connections are LAN-based only (tried WiFi & USB directly attached to the Ultra with same results). Connection from the Ultra to the Pioneer is TOSLINK.
Now with certain DSF (DSD64) I get choppy results while others just stream without any issues. I could bring this down to some details:
For example I ripped the "Brothers in Arms - 20th Anniversary"-SACD by Dire Straits. The Multichannel-version-DSF comes with 6 channels and a bitrate of 16384 kbps. This will not play without shorts stops. Same with the SACD-Multichannel-version-DSF of "The War of the Worlds" by Jeff Wayne (6 channels and 16384 kbps, also).
The Stereo-version-DSFs of both of them (2 channel, 5645 kbps) stream just fine.
Now if I stream a Multichannel-version of "Mozart Overtures" by Köner Akademie which comes with 5 channels and only 14112 kbps I also have no problems at all.
Sample rate is always 2822400 Hz. Firmware is up to date (5.2.714249) and optical audio settings are 192 kHZ/24-bit max.
Am I stretching the TOSLINK to far? I have not tried digital coax nor analog cables.
If I feed the Pioneer via a Magnetar UDP800 (HDMI connection) there are no issues with any DSFs.
What seems to be the problem?
Best regards, Ingo
