Let's talk movies & streaming shows

Wednesday is an excellent series on Netflix, and is currently in it's second series. It is based on the characters from the Addams Family, and in my opinion it is much better than the Addams Family films.

I watched all of season 1, but season 2 is still stopped in the middle of one episode. Probably need to rewatch everything from the beginning 😅

The best horror comedy (or parody) in my history. I don't remember how many times watched it.
Available on Prime Video.

Band of Brothers made me think of another good one The Pacific. Of course Rami Malek will always be Snafu to me…

I don’t know if the original NRK Skam series was ever exported. I know of local remakes, but if you can find the original Norwegian one with subtitles it’s well worth it. Four seasons. Short episodes set in Oslo, about the lives of young people in their late teens.

I liked The Queen’s Gambit. At least one other Norwegian did so too:

I have only watched the first two episodes of the second series so far, but will watch the rest some time in the near future. :)

I remember watching The Pacific a long time ago 🙂
I didn't know about SKAM. It seems that SKAM FRANCE is the only one that can be seen in Japan. I found another SKAM ITALIA, but I wonder if the content is the same? 🤔

I haven’t seen the adaptions. The French one was shown in Norway. A Japanese version could be interesting. Different cultures and all that.

Nothing wrong with MASH. I prefer the film though.

Talking about films I got some great laughs from finally seeing Jojo Rabbit this summer.

Here are a few more series that we've seen and can recommend without reservation, Netflix:

"Who is Erin Carter"

"Adolescence"

"Beef"

"Ozark"

"Monster - the Story of Jeffrey Dahmer"

"The end of the F***ing World"

"Black Doves"

I wonder if all the “Scottishisms” inserted by the actors made it into the translated versions?
no idea. for me the original version is not good for easy looking. or better said my english is not good enough. reading is easy. writing not so. understanding a foreign language on screen is often not. quite sure a lot will get lost. as mostly with translations. anyway the german version does all she has to do. can follow the story.

I understand the director was quite happy for the Scottish actors to include local colloquialisms. To be fair, the accents were very regional at times and even difficult for me 40 miles away from the setting to pick up at times 🤣
