Let's talk movies & streaming shows

I am not sure whether this production is available worldwide but Netflix has just released tv mini series called „Heweliusz” about tragedy of polish ferry Jan Heweliusz which sunk in 1993 during heavy storm in Baltic Sea.

It shows not only the event but also what happened next including investigation about the reasons.

It is heavy, quite emotional production, probably not for everyone but well made and worth to watch.

Enjoying Down Cemetery Road with Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson, from the author of Slow Horses.

Looks like a few new series might be worth a look too - Trespasses with Gillian Anderson, and All Her Fault with Sarah Snook and Dakota Fanning, as well as a trip down memory lane with the excellent original Edge of Darkness with Bob Peck, Joe Don Baker and Joanne Whalley on BBC iPlayer.

There's a certain sameness in these English series - dim witted assistants, upper-class twit bosses, the inevitable ancient University town setting. A bit soporific....

Yeah, I hadn't known about that beforehand, so I was terribly disappointed..😔
Henry would have made the season better. The Mage battle episode was one of the best episodes of the entire series. It was creative and the special effects were well done. Once the battle started it was action for quite a while. And Yeniffer is just beautiful. I wish we would see more of her like in season one. 😉

Netflix’s Witcher is not even close to Sapkowski’s books it is based on. Let this tv crap go, read the books instead.

I clearly watch them with a different mindset - as taking amusing potshots at the stereotypes depicted. As I’m often reminded by my partner, they’re enactments not real life 😜

Yeah, this season was enjoyable too, and there was that (I adore) reunion scene between Geralt and Yennefer. But her partner could never be anyone other than Henry. I do feel sorry for Liam, though.

Completely agree 😂👍

Rojst - Netflix

We devoured all three seasons this weekend. What a fantastic finale!

The series is refreshingly dark, writes Gianluca Wallisch in 'Der Standard'. “Acting, directing, screenplay, pacing, set design—it all works.” Open ends remain open, just like in real life. Rojst is a modern, well-thought-out production, the kind you would expect from Great Britain or Scandinavia.

Berlin Station - itvx. Achieves the feat of not one single sympathetic character. Summed up by the title music

I remember for some reason we couldn’t watch this in the UK when it first came out and I’d really wanted to see it. I enjoyed it although as I recall it dipped a bit in the last season. Good as it was, it couldn’t hold a candle to Le Bureau

I'll have to find Le Bureau...

It’s on Paramount+ on Prime. You might be able to get a free trial or cheap 3 month deal.

Edit: btw, you may be aware that The Agency with Michael Fassbender is a re-hash of Le Bureau. I struggled with the former for a good few episodes because I constantly compared it to the latter - it’s only when I stopped doing that that I relaxed and enjoyed it for what it was and not what it wasn’t ;)
