Maybe it's a technical matter but anyone knows the reason why local files can't be played on Spotify? And you think there's a way to Wiim fix this in the future?
can you define 'local files' as Spotify plays music from its server fundamentally? It is not a UPnP music player that is designed to play local/server/NAS files. At our end Spotify plays all the Spotify based files direct to WiiM Home app and the quality is remarkably good for 320mps files
could be he means 'downloaded' files from the services? not bought but 'stored' on the device for offline use. think this is not possible. for all the services.
The WiiM Home App is not involved in playing Spotify.
The Spotify app controls the WiiM device using the Spotify Connect or Chromecast protocols. And the music is steamed directly between the Spotify servers and the WiiM device.
To play music stored on your phone you will need to play it by the Spotify app locally and forward it to WiiM using Bluetooth, not using the Connect services.
WiiM devices support Spotify Connect and being a cloud service, it has no knowledge of and can’t access local files. As above, best you could do is use Bluetooth from the Spotify app.
If you’re willing to step outside the Spotify app, those local (but not offline downloaded files) may well appear under My Music in the WiiM home app from where you can play them to your WiiM devices.
