Hi all — I’m seeing a really odd Spotify Connect behavior with my WiiM and I’m trying to confirm if it’s a known bug (Spotify vs WiiM) or something about my network.
Issue (repeatable):
Issue (repeatable):
- I am connected to WiiM in Spotify and basically listening to music. Then switch output back to “This iPhone” (or another local device).
- After that, Spotify shows the WiiM under “On other networks”, even though it’s on the same Wi-Fi as the phone/laptop.
- If I tap the WiiM (while it’s under “On other networks”) and choose “Log out of this device”, it immediately starts showing normally again under my network — until it flips again later.
- It can also flip to “other networks” after I am not using Spotify with WiiM for a day or so.
- Same behavior happens on laptop Spotify too.
- Reinstalled Spotify, cleared cache, logged out/in
- Restarted iPhone / laptop / WiiM multiple times
- Router factory reset + new SSID + new passwords
- Tried 5 GHz only, tried disabling 2.4 GHz (no improvement)
- Mesh OFF, multicast ON
- WPA2-PSK (AES) only (no WPA3 mixed mode)
- Disabled IPv6 on WiiM (also tested toggling it)
- Spotify has Local Network permission enabled on iOS
- Cellular data disabled for Spotify/WiiM (tested)
- No other Spotify Connect device behaves like this (PS5/MacBook/etc. are stable).
- WiiM is on latest firmware.
- Has anyone seen a WiiM specifically get “misclassified” as On other networks like this?
- Any known fix/settings (Spotify/WiiM/router) to keep it always detected as local?
- If you’ve solved it, what was the exact change?
