Looking for a decent USB DAC

I want to go from my Nvidia Shield Pro USB out to my WiiM Ultra's analog in

I don't want to spend a fortune but I want to bypass the television's crappy DAC.

Right now I'm going HDMI out of the Nvidia to the television which converts it to Optical to the WiiM. I'm looking to upgrade the audio a bit.

My buddy had a great idea.
Get an HDMI splitter.
