Hi all - I use my Ultra as a DDC so I can apply some PEQ for room correction to my CD Transport, but I find even when I change to the optical input on the front panel (thereby presumably taking the Ultra out of standby mode?) there is a dropout of a second or so on the first track played when in them press play on the transport. Once I have played something this doesn’t happen again. I don’t have ‘auto sensing’ turned on or ‘reduce noise’, I see there is a ‘Standby Source Mode’ I could select for CD Player (Optical in) but as my most often used input is wi-fi streaming I didn’t really think setting that would be appropriate, also it says it will increase standby consumption?

I don’t need it to be permanently on or play immediately from standby, I’m happy to take the unit out of standby first and that’s how I usually use it. It wouldn’t be anything to do with the display showing a VU meter would it, as that takes a second before it starts to jump about?

Hi
After switching the Ultra's input to "Optical," try pressing the Play button on the remote or the Play button on the volume knob. The spectrum icon on the screen will start moving, indicating that playback has begun. Then, try playing a CD.

If you're using the remote, try pressing the Play button without pressing the Power button. The Ultra will wake up from standby and start playing.

Also, please disable fade-in/fade-out in the WiiM app's audio settings.

I believe this should fix the dropout, but sorry if it doesn't work.

I’ll try that, I don’t usually use the remote for much except putting the unit in ‘screen off’ standby mode. I have a couple of favourites set up in the app for Wi-Fi (streaming) and CD Player (Transport) and that works fine, it’s just that first press of the play button on the CD Transport you can see the WiiM screen come to life a second after the track actually starts… almost like it’s waiting for the signal before actually making the connection live.

As I’m up and putting on a CD the I will try the volume knob play button before I press play on the CD - that sound like the best work around, as I say, it only happens on the first CD of the evening… 👍
