There are several adults in our household, and I’m not always there.

Can several people have the WiiM Home app installed and control a single device? If so, how are settings synchronised?

Yes.

What sort of settings were you thinking of?
Some are app based, some are device based.
Thanks for responding.

I was thinking of presets, favourites and EQ. I’m used to Apple Music on an Apple TV as my primary music source. That has user profiles.

The WiiM will allow me to use a preset for an Internet radio stream that I enjoy. This means that the input source will flip from Optical to WiFI. Other users may need to switch that back to Optical.

WiiM devices don’t have user profiles, and items like presets, favourites and source setting are held at device level. If you played your radio preset then the next person wanting to use optical from their installed app would need to select that since in effect the app is a window on to the same device.

I believe My Library and Search History are stored on a per phone basis.🙂

Hi, I have a similar question. We are considering a WiiM Amp for the living room, for TV and streaming music from Spotify and Amazon. We have different subscriptions to these services (e.g. different Amazon music accounts). How does that work? Can the WiiM only have one version of each service?
Also, for complication, I have a WiiM mini in the other room - If I group devices can I use my Amazon account (which is what the mini uses) or does one take priority?
Many thanks

Think of an Alexa-enabled WiiM device like an echo - an echo is tied to the account under which it’s registered, so a WiiM device is the same in practice ie it’s tied to the Alexa/amazon account you linked it to in the WiiM app.

For Spotify, that doesn’t really matter as it’s quite “promiscuous” and will cast to anything that supports Spotify Connect.

Amazon music doesn’t really deal well with multiple users accounts when it comes to Amazon echos, so it’s much the same with Wiim devices - you can only cast (via AlexaCast) to a device that’s on the same account as your music account. In fact, a WiiM device is probably weaker than an echo in that you can’t change profile as you might do with an echo in an Amazon household setup.

However, if your WiiM device supports Chromecast (which the WiiM amp does), you can use that to play from any Amazon account on your phone to the WiiM, albeit at best in CD quality.

Don’t know what you mean by priority- both the mini and WiiM device would need to be on the same amazon/alexa account for you to group them in the first instance.

Thanks, that's clear. Much appreciated :)

A footnote though - if you grouped the Amp with the Mini, you could only use the one Amazon Music account I.e. the one the Amp and Mini are linked to, to cast to it using AlexaCast. As the Mini doesn’t support Chromecast, it can’t be in a Chromecast group with the Amp to allow other Amazon accounts to use Chromecast to send music to it/the group.

A further footnote. If you used your WiiMs in conjunction with LMS and controlled via Material each user would have exactly the same settings and access to the same services. Multiple accounts are supported on Spotify etc
