Why don't newly added albums appear when browsing my Logitech Media Server (LMS) share using WiiM app?

If you can’t see them in LMS GUI then chances are that LMS can’t see them during scanning. Check ownership and permissions of these new files vs old ones that can be seen.

yeah try "music folder" that'll allow browse by the HDD structure..if you can't see it, then something is up.

In the WiiM app?
Forget the WiiM app at this stage. If you can’t see them in LMS GUI there is zero chance the app will.
He means the “music folder” menu item in LMS but if you can’t see the files in New Music they won’t be there either.
Lyrion will be running with a Linux user account - could be squeezeboxserver or if new install lyrionmusicserver. That user needs to be able to see your new files.

Something weird is definitely going on…

Yesterday, I erased the SSD that is connected to my WiiM Ultra - I did this so that I could copy over the whole library (including the newly added albums) from the Linux server share, to the drive and use it in the WiiM Ultra.

However, when browsing the USB drive, the newly added albums are not there.

Something is afoot…

How did you "add them", was it via Samba or some other means?

Are you familar with WinSCP?

I used the SSD from the WiiM Ultra.

I can’t remember if I used my Mac or the Linux server to format the drive, maybe I should try again using both methods to see if there’s some kind of permissions issue?

The thing is, the newly added albums are there if I use my Emby app to browse the server share.

Not familiar with WinSCP, no.

I meant when you added the new music files - how did you get them to the SSD? Where was the SSD plugged in at the time?

Where is Emby running?

You'd need to use a computer and transfer that way. Ensuring the partition system is supported by the ultra

Something weirder is afoot.

I just opened the WiiM app, clicked on Browse>USB drive and it asked to do a scan, so I let it.

Now, guess what?

That’s right, the newly copied albums are indeed there and playable.

But… if I click Browse>Home music Share (where the contents of the USB drive were copied from from yesterday), the newly added albums are not there.

**UPDATE**

I think I have found the cause of the issue.

In the LMS WEB GUI, it shows that it is looking at the default Ubuntu Music folder.

But...

That lives on a 256GB NVME drive (where the OS is installed to) and the shared Music folder I want LMS to look at, lives on the server's RAID Array hard drives in a folder (also called) Music.

So, I need LMS to look at this folder instead of the default Music folder, but it looks like I can only browse that 256GB NVME, rather than than the RAID array.

LMS runs with user "squeezeboxserver" or if very new "lyrionmusicserver" account. This user account will probably not have access to the folder on the RAID array if it cannot see it using the browse facility i.e a permissions issue.

If LMS is indexing the wrong location how is only new music impacted?

How do I change this please?

What is your gear? ie on mine i have Pi5 with LMS, and on the NAS I had to create user access account for the pi, static IP then allow NFS access
