My first Album/CD/Cassette/Download was …..

...not at all. I must also say to my parents' credit that only a few years later (with the help of my 5 year older brother) they gave me a record player with integrated amplifier, 2 x 25W speakers and all the officially released Beatles LPs for Christmas. With the result that the Beatles are still my favourite band today 🎸
Red & Blue were released in 1973. I bought copies at the time with my Saturday job wages.

The first album I bought with my own money was by Alice Cooper. There was a little record shop up the street from where I grew up. I'd save my money from mowing lawns, Christmas, birthdays, etc, to buy records and 8-track tapes.

I was 10 years old. My teacher had played is this in class over a few successive mornings in early 1979..
I had some birthday money from a relative in Ireland, I think it was £5. My dad had not long bought a Panasonic music centre, I think it was an SG5000.
Once I'd heard the wonders of my dad's chippy of Geoff Love Orchestra's "Big War Movie Themes" I knew I had to have this and thus it was into Woolworths I went on that spring day in April to buy one of the greatest records of all time (which I still have)
