Well, it was an unexpected purchase, even though I've been coveting one for months. Or a Wiim amp - it didn't matter really.
I eventually bit the bullet and went for the Pro - to be used in my kitchen for parties and more likely casual listening when I'm cooking. I was running a Denon RCD-M38DAB with a pair of B&W M1 satellites and a Linn Komponent 120 sub (mainly because it's flat and sits on top of our tall cupboards).
Plugging in the Wiim Amp Pro, setting it up and sorting out the crossovers and room correction.....bloody hell....it's never sounded so good. The clarity and the depth of sound in my room sounds amazing. I think the Denon passed the sub signal out without a filter to the smaller speakers, so it was a kind of free for all, frequency wise...
I listened to a bit of Trouble Remastered, which was new to me and I did actually enjoy, then a bit of Richard Dawson/Circle and then, dare I say it, some home made dark electronic/ambient music made by my own size 10's. Thirty Ghosts if you're interested - available on most services.
This wee (wiim) amp has transformed my listening experience, and the Denon will be on ebay fairly soon......also, the banana plugs I had before were too wide for the Wiim.
Also, I can't get over how small this thing is.....weighty though!
