Looking at getting a Wiim device but after some general system recommendations.

In one room (my daughters) she’ll have a turntable and I want her to be able to use that, stream from tidal. The challenge comes with speakers and how to control the volume. I really want to find some genuine small bookshelf speakers and ideally avoid a subwoofer. I do have some Anthony Gallo Micro SE that sound great but they need a sub and amplifier.

Thinking some powered small speakers but so many seem to be cheap rubbish. Also not sure if I can use the remote on the Wiim to control volume when directly connected to powered speakers.

Any suggestions or ideas for a simple, small system that still sounds ok?

The main room will be fine, as have Marantz receiver, speakers and sub. The challenge is this small room where I don’t want to fill it with audio kit but still after good sound

The only WiiM device featuring a turntable input so far is the WiiM Ultra.

The Ultra also makes a very competent pre-amp with one more analogue line level input, HDMI ARC input, an optical digital input, volume control and, of course it's a high quality streamer (supporting e.g. Tidal Connect and many other streaming services) and DAC.

It's RCA output (with adjustable maximum voltage) can be directly connected to any active speaker offering an RCA input (or balanced inputs, using an adapter cable). Most of what's sold as small powered speakers is cheap rubbish, indeed. What's your price range? You might have better luck looking into small active studio monitors.
