You will get used to it after a while. There is often more than one way to do the same thing.

I wish this was the case...I'm 5 or 6 months in and always have that brainfart moment. TBH, I mostly use cvdlinden's simple webpage coupled with the WiiM app. On Firestick, I use Emby in preference to Plex because the app doesn't hang or stutter.

Lyrion is something that I play with hoping it gets better. I'll layout what gives me brainfart moments a bit more visually.

In Lyrion's UI there is this set of icons. If you click each icon multiple times, it does different things with each press - this is very counter-intuitive since normally an icon does one thing or it changes its face if it's a state toggle, but Material doesn't:



The same icon at top right appears at bottom right as well, duplicating a feature - why? This is clutter.


The top left icon is the most problematic. In most apps, this is where the navigation metaphor is used, but Material uses this hamburger icon to change players and got to settings where most apps place this settings metaphor on the right hand side. Again, why so different from usual practice?

just tried through firefox, lms picoreplayer.. don't see two copies of the same icon.

What version of materal skin are you using?

Mine is materal skin 5.9.1
LMS 0.8.4

Picoreplayer player 10 64 bit
LMS 9.0.3

We're at cross-purposes...I'm using the web interface in a desktop browser and you're in a phone or tablet.

Those icons you show do toggle a function on and off and two of them do change state. I find Material skin works better on a mobile device. I don't really use it on a PC.

Have you tried Music Assistant? I don't think it supports works but then I don't think Emby or Plex do either.

I tried it briefly a couple of days ago with an OpenSubsonic provider and was quite impressed. I use Symfonium on the phone/tablet so was looking for a desktop controller.

Have you tried Music Assistant? I tried it briefly a couple of days ago with an OpenSubsonic provider and was quite impressed. I don't think it supports works but then I don't think Emby or Plex do either.

I use Symfonium on the phone/tablet so was looking for a desktop controller.

PlexAmp is similar (Android Auto, offline etc) but doesn't support UPnP.

I think you're right! I hadn't tried it on a phone where it seems much more 'pulled together'. The desktop view seems like a work in progress with it's inconsistencies.
