No chromecast option on iPhone for BBC Sounds (Wiim Pro).

All permissions enabled, Chromecast visible for Qobuz and Tidal apps on iPhone, but not for BBC Sounds. Chromecast visible for BBC Sounds on Android, but not an option on iPhone. Only option is Airplay.

Ok on my iPad, although it did take a moment for the list to appear. Maybe try a reboot of your router, WiiM device and phone, or delete and re-install the bbc sounds app.

Thanks for the constant reminders lol i had no idea one could turn the WiiM into a chromecast with the flick of a button lol i didn’t know i could do this until yesterday 😂 it’s a fantastic airplay alternative for iOS users!

This is frustrating. I’ve rebooted everything, and deleted and reinstalled the app and the message I get is “Available Chromecast devices will appear here”.

Yeah, very strange if other apps can see Chromecast devices, just not BBC Sounds. Try toggling local network permissions off and back on for the app and see if that triggers it into action.

Do you have any other Chromecast devices (eg. TV with Chromecast built in)? Do they appear in BBC Sounds?

I’ve attached a screenshot. The Sounds App isn’t listed under Local Network.

There must be something obvious I’m missing, but I don’t get the local network option.
Seemingly it’s a bit of a catch 22 - it won’t appear there unless the app asks for that permission, but as you’ve shown the request to do that doesn’t get past your bbc app casting screen. From this post on Reddit, it seems it’s a problem that might only be solved by a complete reset of the phone which is a drastic move.

I guess you’d need to do a full backup via iTunes or similar then factory reset and restore, but it’s a while since I’ve had to do that with my iPad and I don’t have an iPhone to see if the procedure would be the same. Have you already tried a hard reboot of your phone I.e. totally power off and turning back on when the Apple logo appears?

However, before you do that restore, I suggest maybe contacting BBC support at https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/help/questions/need-more-help/report-fault to see what they suggest
