Open Network Stream - Song info issues

I listen to two hi-res radio streams with song info but encounter issues with both.
Anyone with similar issues?
1) SuperStereo 7 - song title and artist will display the first song once you start listening but will never update when new songs are played.
Closing app and reopening won't update details to current song.
Changing station and returning back to SuperStereo 7 works but again it won't update after that.
2) SomaFM Groove Salad - will display song title and album. It will update song title and artist when new song starts (actually before it starts:)) but the album title stays and displays the title from the first song (though I have seen it update at times but unable to say when/how.
Trying to post a couple of screenshots showing the behaviour.

Showing the album as Places EP but that was playing at 22:03:42. It should show Unyt, as that is the album of the current song Quantum Evo.

@WiiM Support should I raise it as a bug?

Edit: Wiim Pro Plus, latest firmware and latest Android app version.

I see the same. I think it's because the formats of information is different for the different stations and each of them needs special integration.

This is what e.g. TuneIn and vTuner services has done.
The WiiM software has only done this for a few selected stations.

So I don't think it's a bug, just the consequence of a lack of a well defined API.

Superstereo 7 artwork and info seem to work fine when playing from Lyrion.

Thank you for your reply, sort of makes sense I guess. Rach one would need a custom implementation. Shame :(

Nice, I think like @hgo58 mentioned they must have a custom call to their API?!
Some of the SuperStereo channels are on vTuner but it looks like there are problems there also.

As long as there is no full API definitions for the streaming services we have to use whatever the different apps and equipment have implemented.

I created a ticket for @WiiM Support several months ago about integrating SuperStereo but it was just closed. So not much hope for that.

I have reached out to SuperStereo Network, just to see what they are saying.
Will update here if I hear back from them.

Someone wrote a plugin which takes care of it "Radio now Playing"
Superstereo often change the streams. There was a time when they included metadata which caused issues, then they provided another stream without metadata, then discontinued that one and removed metadata from the original stream. The plugin often needs tweaking to keep up.

Also contacted SomaFM, Groove Salad station owners.
They mention on their website that the are using Icecast KH servers. But for Icecast on their github site it mentions Ogg and MP3 streaming but Groove Salad is FLAC.
Will update here again if they get back to me.

I don't know what happened, but all the SuperStereo 10 stations works right now. And there is some info about a new sound called: The Exclusive "Spectral Sound".

I see that as well. So it's basically not working at all right now.
That appears to be some "default" message.
On their website it displays the actual song title and artist.

Most radio stations provide some metadata inside the stream in the form of "icy-metadata" - https://cast.readme.io/docs/icy - but this does not include cover art except for low quality Shoutcast based mp3 where the "icy-url" is sometimes (but not always) used to provide a link to an image file instead of the station web URL.

Many Internet radio stations are content at this level but those that want to go further will have their own API where a developer can hook into it and be provided with much more data - track, album, artist, duration, bitrate and cover art etc. Some of the aggregators - TuneIn, vTuner etc - provide this service. Where they don't WiiM would need to develop things specially for the Radio Station concerned - which they do for Radio Paradise.

Over at LMS, which has been around for decades, clever folk have built plugins that either use the Station API or do dynamic lookups based on the title and artist in the icy metadata which means that we get much wider cover art support than native WiiM users on a whole host of esoteric stations. I'd venture to suggest that this sort of thing isn't high on WiiM's roadmap if its on there at all.

Same issue here. SomaFM stations no longer display track or station information. I noticed it after the last app/firmware update.

It’s a nuisance but I can cast from the SomaFM app on my phone to the WiiM which then shows the information.

I do get the song title and artist info, just the album name doesn't always update.
I only listen to Groove Salad, no other SomaFm stations.

I checked the situation within LMS earlier today. It’s still working using RNP plugin.

WiiM must have broken something
