Parametric EQ

Just my opinion. For me EQ, Parametric or not; Tone Control and things like that are tools of the devil. They only serve to distort what the recording or musician wanted to convey. Not To Use.
For me, the acoustics of the room can be improved by adding or not carpets, paintings, curtains, etc
Even more essential, if something is wrong, reposition the speakers.
Of course it's just my opinion. It's not the "Word". ;)

Maybe with the release of PEQ, we'll have an outbreak of Audiophilia Nervosa with the only cure being "touch nothing and just lie back and listen to the music" 🤣 🤣
Very very good article (y) You see, years ago i buyed an equalizer. I did all the measurements with a pro phonometer. I created the curves, and….I was never satisfied and restarted from 0. Result i understood that my pleasure listening to musicit had gotten worse. Cure? I sold the equalizer in a hurry and…I have rediscovered the peace and pleasure of listening.;)
Another thing. I have had friends changing yearly their equipment because of one 0 more in a row of 0 . Let me say five 0 instead of four. Madness, or…Audiophilia Nervosa 😂😂

Well said. In my Pre Amp i have tone control not only set to 0, but Tone Defeat is permanently engaged ;)
Believe or not, all living rooms lent to listening, suffer from low frequency nodes or antinode making holes or peaks in response. The only way to limit damage and hear how music was for real, is measure and correct with PEQ, Dirac or rebuild house...
Integralism does not pay even in listening.

I don‘t understand why people mostly opt for extreme options/beliefs.

What about doing a little bit of everything:
1) Buy decent speakers, amp and network player
2) Set up speakers as good as possible
3) Optimize room acoustics as much as acceptable
4) Use PEQ to further optimize frequency response

-> Enjoy listening to great music!

The preferred way, although in real life we may encounter obstacles with points 1-3, which may result in focusing on point 4 ;)

As in Italy we have a saying for every occasion here’s one
Voglio ma non posso - I Want But I Can’t
Applayed at point 1 it’s a bad thing. Wait, save and after buy a decent equipment ;)

Obstacles.... don't think I've heard that adjective for a partner before.
My "obstacle" tells me the speakers are too far into the room & in the way!

My audio room is only 10m². Moreover, the ceiling is very low. If I wanted to extinguish the standing waves in this room, I will be buried in a sponge.

It’s amazing and a tribute to her that you still have that and can reproduce them word perfect. Scottish mothers (and I’m sure mothers everywhere) do tend to have a wide range of stock phrases :)
