Per-Output Volume Control

I think being able to control volume per output would be very useful.
E.g. in order to control amp/speakers volume connected via Line Out separately from a device connected via Optical Out (Hi-Res BT transmitter for example) which always needs/wants volume at 100% (fixed volume). Currently if I forget to reduce volume while switching from Optical Out back to Line Out everyone in the house gets a heart attack....

I would love a per-output volume control and fixed volume setting. My use case is to switch between two scenarios:
- active floor-standing speakers connected to lineout with variable volume control via WiiM
- desktop speakers with a DAC connected to optical or coax out with fixed volume and volume control via the DAC

Again, smart presets may facilitate that

Wiim would spend most of its time tweaking rc over any other feature since it was used and enjoy majority of its user. Per out eq is on roadmap.

@Burnside Thank you for pointing me to that feature which I wasn't aware of yet. I tried to follow this guide but my iOS app doesn't have the three-dot icon in step 3. I assume that is because smart presets are still in beta? Is there a way to join the TestFlight beta?

I already anticipate one problem though: I exclusively use my WiiM with Roon and it looks like I can't assign Roon to a preset. I also assume that even if I could assign Roon to a preset that switching the output that way would reset the stream therefore interrupting playback on all my synced Roon devices.

@Smartplug Thank you for mentioning per-output EQ. You are right, in my use case I would also need that feature since I do room correction on WiiM for my floor-standing speakers but would need to disable it for my DAC which applies a different EQ already (for desk speakers and different headphones). But apparently that is included in the smart presets feature (if could be used with Roon).

Thinking further about this I guess the optimal feature I'm looking for would be an audio setting only preset: Like a smart preset with volume/audio output/EQ settings (+ switching fixed/variable volume), but without selection of a song/playlist/radio station.

It's due to be released in a week or so so I'd just hold on

Can you explain what's the difference between smart presets and manually changing the volume between outputs? In each case we always have to remember to manually set appropriate volume - either by manually enabling Smart preset or manually without Smart presets. So, what's the benefit of using Smart presets?

My Amp doesn't have smart presets yet but I imagine a smart preset will set the output and the volume (and other things) simultaneously. Without a smart preset everything would need to be changed manually one step at a time.
