Pro-Ject’s two new streaming devices, using Wiim OS

Was curious about the Pro-Ject Home app, so installed it on my iPhone. It's exactly like the WiiM Home app; all albums, playlists, presets, logins, and WiiM devices found without issue. So, Pro-Ject just relabeled the app, which saved them a ton of development time. It's likely, then, that the WiiM app will find and control the Pro-Ject devices, as well.

Which given the history of the use of Linkplay modules and firmware in third party devices is almost de rigeur..

Nice find! It's nice to see WiiM doing licensing deals which means that they're slightly further up the value chain. It means that the WiiM ecosystem grows a bit larger.

As I say above, that's where Linkplay's business was for a long time - they supplied the hardware modules, firmware and a tailored app to third parties until they decided to do the same for themselves and started selling under the WiiM brand

Thanks...this adds a bit more context about where they started and the evolution. You've been at the WiiM game a lot longer than some of us, so thanks for filling in the history.

It seems like a really good idea, especially where one speaker might be sufficient in a room (assuming it is happy playing in mono). Of course, will need to hear how it performs, and multiroom options are limited by the obligatory lack of AirPlay.
