Hi
I've been having a problem with the Ultra's screen for a while now. In the evening I turn off the screen with the remote control button and every few days I find that the screen has turned itself back on. I have already opened several tickets via WHA, at WiiM's request, complaining about the defect, but so far without any solution.
This is the last answer I received :
"
We apologize for the inconvenience.

The WiiM Ultra is designed to automatically restart every three days and upgrade at night if a new version is detected. This could be why your WiiM Ultra is restarting automatically. We apologize for any disruption this may have caused."

The thing is that I find it turned on even though there has been no FW update.
Another strange thing is that at the beginning this did not happen. It started to show the defect after some time.
Has anyone else noticed this problem? I have to say it is very annoying.

I guess it has to wake up to check if there is a new FW to which to update.
I guess it's also a shame that it doesn't put the screen back to the same state.
I might classify it as a minor annoyance ;)

Yes, a minor disturbance, but still a disturbance. ;)

I can confirm that a reboot turns the screen back on.

The auto reboot was introduced some releases ago. Looks like the firmware have some memory leak issues or something similar. So WiiM uses the MS Windows option of rebooting regularly instead of fixing the issue.

From a SW engineer perspective this is scary and doesn't paint a good picture of the engineering practices involved :-( I sincerely hope this is temporary

I agree with you @bherren . I wrote more and more, but nobody did nothing to fix this annoying defect. I want that, if I shut off the screen it remains in that state. I don’t like a poltergeist who activates the screen by night.
@RyanWithWiim
should deal with things like this, rather than think about a restyling of the Community that in the end no one asked for.
In my opinion, the current or modified style does not matter to me. What matters is that the Community works.

Hey all!
We've got the team looking into this right now. I don't know what the resolution will look like, but we've let them know to check out the behavior and see what they can come up with.

Fortunately I can do both! restyle the community to improve the experience and also share feedback :)

So, since in this case WiiM doesn't seem to care, I solved the problem of the Ultra spontaneously turning on after turning it off with the remote button.
How? In the stupidest way possible. By setting Screen Off when in Standby in the display options. This way I no longer found the Ultra screen turned on.
Obviously this stupid solution doesn't satisfy me, because I had to give up the watch when the Ultra is in standby and having the watch within sight could have been convenient.
Given the choice, however, I preferred to give up the watch rather than have the Ultra's screen on for hours without reason.
Of course, I always hope for a fix that solves the problem at its root, so you don't have to give up anything

Well that explains why every time I go up to my cottage I find my Ultra on.
I haven't cared except for the nagging concern that the Ultra will turn on, which will turn on the amp--and if it starts Internet radio (which never sleeps) my amp & sub could be on for weeks. Could it even turn on my TV via the eArc connection?

Paranoid or possible? I'm beginning to like the option of turning EVERYTHING off via a power strip.

Hi Maurizio,

Could you please provide your feedback ticket number? I'll have our team review it again. We haven’t been able to reproduce this issue in our lab—when we turn off the screen with the remote, it stays off. Thank you!

Does it stay off after a reboot?

Does it stay off after a reboot?
If you trigger a reboot through the app or unplug the device, the screen will turn on. To prevent this, you can set the screen to 'off.' For the system’s 72-hour housekeeping reboot, the screen will remain off if it was previously turned off. I hope this clears things up!

Hi @WiiM Support
Let's go in order:
1) I have never done a reboot voluntarily, nor disconnected the power
2) In the evening I turn off the screen with the remote control and with the 72 hour housekeeping reboot the screen doesn't remain off, but turn on by itself
3) As i told, if I set the screen off in the app settings, the screen stays off, but this way I no longer have the clock when the Ultra goes into standby. Every time the Ultra is in standby the screen remains off.
I would gladly give you the ticket number, but I don't know how or where I can find it. If you tell me what I have to do to recover the ticket number I will gladly let you know
