Recording via toslink optical output!

Not a question just a tip for others!
Might sound obvious but I was having an issue having connected the Optical lead from my Wiim Pro to my Sony minidisc player and getting "C71 Din Unlock" on the minidisc screen?
Out port on the Wiim? Check!
In port on the minidisc player? Check!
Connected the minidisc to the CD player and no issue .....
Then on the app an option box popped up suddenly "line out or optical out"!
Ah!
Now I can record 80 minute reggae station DJ's that play original and dub versions back to back and edit out the originals resulting in hours and hours of expensive dub plates on demand
Now I just need an early 90's drum and bass station

What was the problem. Never had any issues recording on Mini Disk (optical) or Tape (analog).
