I have an 8 year old end-of-support Control4 system that needs to be upgraded but I wish to convert to Wiim. Everything is wired to a central closet.
The Integra DTR-20.7 7.2 Digital Surround Sound Receiver still works but the 2 EA-AMP-2D-150A Episode Amps went dead over the years (closet too hot? Or badly set up - I don’t know).
I currently need 3 zones but in the future would look to add 1 or 2 more
Family Room
5 ES-550T-IC-6 Episode® 550 Series In-Ceiling Thin Bezel Speakers with 6 1/2 in. Woofers; 3 front and 2 rear.
Episode® ES-SUB-IW-SNGL8 In-Wall Subwoofer
Master & Master ensuite
3 ES-350T-IC-6 Episode® 350 Series In-Ceiling Thin Bezel Speakers with 6 1/2 in. Woofers
2 EVC-100SWHLA Episode® Electronics 100 Watt Sliding Volume Control
Patio
2 ES-350T-IC-6 Episode® 350 Series In-Ceiling Thin Bezel Speakers with 6 1/2 in. Woofers
EVC-100SWHLA Episode® Electronics 100 Watt Sliding Volume Control
The speakers all have similar specs:
Power Handling: 75 to 100 watts
Sensitivity: 87 dB
Impedance: 8 ohm
Frequency response ranges from 150 Hz to 20 kHz.
I would like to maintain the 5:1 surround for the family room. We use mainly Amazon Music and are Alexa based but could switch music to Apple Music.
I’m looking for advice on purchasing which Wiim devices. I’m a relative newbie but have done enough research to see that a Wiim configuration appears to be a great choice that can meet my current and future needs.
Hope I’ve given enough information to get some suggestions. TIA

- Should I get the Wiim Amp Ultra to use the 100 watt speaker capability?
- Do I need 5 Ultras - one for each zone plus 2 more to do the 5:1? Or do I use diff Wiim devices for the patio & Master zones
- What do I do with the 3 volume slide controllers ? Just leave them set to max?
- Can I make use of the current Integra DTR20.7 receiver to “assist” in the 5:1 surround setup - to lessen the need for additional Wiim’s? Or would it be difficult to control in the Wiim ecosystem?
Hope I’ve given enough information to get some suggestions. TIA
