I love my new Ultra, great upgrade from my Pro Plus.

Just one rather annoying thing that feels like a really easy software fix/feature: When watching TV, especially a movie, the Ultra display should really be off or at least very very dim.

Otherwise the Ultra right below the TV really distracts from the movie experience.

So I would really like the option to turn the scene off (or dimm it further than the current minimum) when the input is HDMI ARC !

This has been asked many times before so I'm a bit surprised it's still not an option.

Indeed, it'd be great to be able to set a general screen timeout and then be able to enable/disable screen dimming per individual input maybe.

Definitely make a feature request through WiiM Home app! :)

Has it? Specifically for HDMI input, only?
Yes - it was one of the first issues I raised, specifically for hdmi input being distracting when watching tv, especially as it had the animation at that time too.
But extending this to have a choice for each input / a single setting is the logical step, i.e just hdmi is too restrictive, which is what I think you are arguing.

Just to be able to set the screen timeout per-input would be the most elegant solution I think yes.

Alternatively, smart presets could include screen on/off controls.

Therefore, it is worth voting for @Burnside campaign. 😁

Don’t have an Ultra myself, but I’ve noticed this issue with TV viewing being discussed on several other Hi-Fi fora/forums that I visit.

Sorry, my eyes must be exceptionally ignorant. 😅 But I see how some might want this in a HT-like environment.

I don't understand why this hasn't been implemented yet since AV receivers/stereo amplifiers have had the option to "dynamically" turn on/off the display for ages...

For example, you open your device.
Then you turn off the display because you want to be in the dark.
Later on, when you adjust the volume (or something else), the display wakes up and shows you want you are doing.
After 5 seconds, it automatically turns off.
Voilà!

Wouldn't it work that way if you turn off the screen display in the screen settings?

Oh, sorry, it seems that the screen only lights up when you touch the screen. .

Right. I want this per source. For TV I basically only want it on shortly when changing volume. For steaming however I do like having album art there

Yeah... I understand what you mean. You could set it and forget it.

Personally, I think it would be "good enough" to add this functionnality and leave it ON by default... Just like when you touch the screen with your fingers, the screen wakes up for a few seconds and ables you to use the device (doesn't matter if the screen toggle switch was on or off).

It makes no sense to me that the screen does wake up when I use my fingers but not the remote control...
We, the users, want to see what's going on ! 😋
