Setup question - no wifi

You will need another smartphone to control the device with the WiiM app.
Use one phone as a hotspot router and control the WiiM with the other.

If you don't have more than two smartphone or tablet, as @hoohoohoo said, a mobile router (or home router) is a good idea.

# The problem with using a mobile router is that you may need to put the SIM card back into your phone when you leave the house.
For anyone reading in the future and considering the 4G/5G router option, this should work for you with either a physical SIM or an eSIM.

To revive this a bit... I was planning to buy WiiM Amp Ultra, but prime day WiiM Amp Pro was a great deal for $303 and honestly I don't need the extra power so probably a better fit anyway. Anyway, I received it and started playing around with it -- unfortunately my speakers/cables have not arrived yet to fully test it, but it did seem that on the latest Android app and device firmware, I was able to control the WiiM on the same device providing the hotspot!
I could adjust the volume (and see the WiiM lights react), and select different streams and the WiiM home app appeared to be playing them. With no speaker output I couldn't fully verify, but it seemed convincing. If I subsequently turned off the hotspot, the app lost the ability to control, which I saw as a good sign it wasn't actually using Bluetooth or some other method.
Klipsch rp600m2 is en route so will update once I can verify with actual output!

Thanks for reporting...that's a great find on the hotspot. Good luck with your new toy when the speakers come in.:)
