Smart Preset option for RoomFit

I'd like a way to assign different RoomFit profiles to preset buttons on the remote control. My previous room correction settings were moved to RoomFit with the latest update, so I'm no longer able to choose them with smart presets or from the "Now Playing" screen.

I use two different RoomFit profiles, one for sitting in the sweet spot and one for reclining on my daybed, which is against the wall with "boomier" low frequencies and different distances to stereo speakers.

Maybe an additional option for this can be added to Smart Presets similar to the pull-down choices for other settings:
"Follow Current RoomFit", "RoomFit Off" or selecting a saved RoomFit profile.

Another way to handle this would an option to send RoomFit settings to PEQ ("Export to PEQ" or "Save to PEQ"), which could then be configured as a Smart Preset. Entering by hand 20 settings with four parameters into PEQ is way too kludgy and subject to error. This would also make exported RoomFit settings directly selectable from the "Now Playing" screen.

Or ideally both methods would be available. ;-)

I too am in favor of adding RoomFit to the Smart Presets.
I recently sent a request ticket about it and received this response from the team.

"We greatly appreciate your suggestion and have added your request to our feature list. Should the opportunity arise to implement this feature in the future, we will certainly consider it."
(Seems like a iffy answer to me...)

I hope you too will submit a request ticket. The more requests thay get, the more likely it will happen.

As for the import/export feature, based on their past posts, I believe it is already in development 🙂

I am not sure if I understand your question correctly but I can simply store them as preset 1-4 on the remote control (WiiM Amp Pro).
I save the RoomFit results as presets in the parametric equalizer. I can store as many results as I want. In the presets of the remote control I can choose any EQ profile and it will be stored together with the preset. I use this to compare two EQ presets, finally the same as choosing the profile according to your two seats.

How do you save Roomfit profiles as presets in the PEQ? With the latest firmware you can't easily do that anymore.

I have Wiim Amp Pro with firmware 5.2.723440
At the end of a Room Fit process I am asked to save the profile. I can give it a special name, for example MMM 1 (MMM = Moving Microphone measuring, the Beta option, the best results I ever had). I can start the process a second time and save it as MMM 2 and so on.
In the remote control set up there is an option "EQ" for each preset. I store preset 1 with MMM 1 and preset 2 with MMM 2.
That's all.
During playing music I can choose MMM1 or MMM2.

In case there is a difference to other mobile phones:
I am using iPhone 16Pro for the WiiM App

Does the WiiM Amp Pro firmware allow you to use Roomfit and EQ together yet. That is can you apply Roomfit and then add EQ on top?

No, it doesn't. RoomFit profiles are still PEQ profiles with the WiiM Amp Pro and any other WiiM, except the Ultra.

If needed I can modify the RoomFit results, surely not such elegant than using RoomFit and EQ separately but at least a possible option.
For me not interesting as I always want to reach the most neutral sound.

I know but the point is that when the next firmware drops your Roomfit profiles will no longer appear as a PEQ profile.

If I understood well if I want to keep any of my current RoomFit profiles (one of them I really love the result) I have to check its settings (filters, gain and Q) and make a new PEQ profile manually after upgrading?
Is this correct?

I think that all existing saved PEQ profiles should be retained.

Maybe (but I didn't try it myself yet) save the "Auto" setting under a new name to be sure.

Just like the OP, If you want to use several different RoomFit profiles (with smart presets), Yes.

If you always use only one RoomFit profile, No.
(However, it is a good idea to save it as an EQ profile for backup purposes.)

Regardless of this subject, it is also recommended to save screenshots of the Profile, Audio Settings and Subwoofer Settings screens.

I was about to request this but found this thread and will just upvote.

I like to tinker with different RoomFit settings and store the result in different profiles. I then AB compare them to find out what sounds better. But in order to do that I have to volume match. With RoomFit as a preset option (not just on/off but the possibility to choose a specific stored profile), I would be able to swap profile and compensate for volume differences with one press of a button.

I used to do this when room correction was stored as EQ profiles and I miss that possibility now that it’s stored as RoomFit profiles instead.

A must have addon to Presets configuration. For now we can only choose wich EQ to use. I need an option to Enable/Disable RoomFit and better if one can also choose a RoomFit Profile.

Did you note the latest update (Ultra)?

Headphone Output: Disabled RoomFit™ profile when using headphone output.

That is the only output where I see a need to disable the RoomFit. What else?

I don't see anyone requesting it to be selectable per output (or input), just the possibility to toggle between different RoomFit profiles in combination with other settings as stored presets. You might want to AB test different RoomFit profiles based on different settings (frequency range, target curve, etc) and at the same time apply different EQ profiles and perform volume matching.

This is very difficult to achieve when RoomFit profile selection is not available in the Stored Presets options. For me, this is must during tuning sessions.

That has been requested but mainly to be able to disable it for headphones.

It's logical that a profile belongs to the output where it was measured.

A very special use case, that I don't see a general need for. Maybe WiiM or forum members have other ideas?

There's at least 3 use-cases that would benefit from adding RoomFit to Smart Presets:
  • Switching tunings optimized for different listening positions
  • Switching tunings optimized for closed- vs open-room scenarios
  • A/B comparing different tunings (like @DamagedGoods suggested)
But I do agree that these might all be too niche for many people, and it is great that WiiM is at least addressing automatic disabling of RoomFit for headphone outputs (which I'm sure is relevant to many). I wonder if BT and USB connected headphones will be similarly handled in the future...

Some more thoughts on RoomFit profile management topic.
