Device settings backup/recovery via app needed

My Pro Plus seems to have factory reset itself. It had been idle, but plugged in for a few weeks. It's possible the reset occurred when I powered down the stereo gear during a thunderstorm and I didn't notice until now.

Anyway, all my settings and most importantly my Roomfit tunings have all been lost.

A backup and restore of at least the Roomfit and EQ settings using the phone-app and phone-storage would be of great help in this situation.

According to support, any kind of power glitch could cause a factory reset, and that I should change the wall wart, power outlet, power cables etc. Given that it's driven from power glitches, even taking those precautions, it's probably going to happen again one day. Why should a product factory reset itself just because of a power glitch? Is this a Pro Plus only issue? Could it be fixed by a firmware change?

On the face of it, the Pro Plus is a great product and well supported too. I was really pleased with it, but now it doesn't seem so trustworthy. I was happily using features such as RoomFit, EQ, and Presets. But now I will stop using anything that requires extensive setup and listening.

I have screenshots of the some of the room fit curves I had arrived at, but not of the various settings I made on the way to arrive at them. Unfortunately I did not think to screenshot any EQ settings I was experimenting with. If I decide to try and manually recover anything, I will be sure to screenshot the process.

I was never quite sure of my tweaks. The Roomfit result did seem "better", I even bought a mic to help achieve it. I also did a writeup in these forums, so that may help me recover what I did. But this glitch is discouraging. Given my Rootfit results were quite subtle, maybe even imagined, I decided that I'll leave things natural for now.

I didn‘t bother to dig into the PEQ. I‘m not a sound engineer and have no ambition of becoming one, in contrast to so many others - reading the flood of threads on this topic.
I shoved some bars in the graphic EQ up and down and got what I wanted. I can reproduce that within minutes using my screenshots. The biggest limitation in this being my thick fingers on the iPad screen shifting the bars to an exact value.

Did you do any searches of this Forum or elsewhere, that came up with a number of other similarly afflicted users?? Or due to your current frustration over your lost configuration data, are you jumping to a conclusion not supported by anything but a generic statement by a WiiM Support Tech??

In any case, I too think your Configuration Backup/Restore to Phone is a great idea.
Make sure to propose it via the Feedback / Bug-Report function in the WiiM Home App.

This is a great idea. And could also help simplify deploying new devices to your wiim home. Click one button to send all your settings to the new device.

Did you do any searches of this Forum or elsewhere, that came up with a number of other similarly afflicted users?? Or due to your current frustration over your lost configuration data, are you jumping to a conclusion not supported by anything but a generic statement by a WiiM Support Tech??

It appears to have happened to others, with the same advice being given. I used both google, reddit and google's AI echos the advice. Even if it is rare, losing user data and effort isn't much fun.

Initially, on Android, RoomFit results were pretty variable. I played around a lot with EQ to try and achieve some kind of synthesis of what I thought it was indicating. A proper microphone seemed to deal with the inconsistency. Then as outlined in the forum post previously referenced, I constrained RoomFit to the frequency ranges that seemed practical and prevented it from boosting anything. That seemed to result in a relatively subtle adjustment that appeared to make base tighter, maybe with a bit less warmth, but more detail, and did not change the overall characteristics of the system. But I always wondered if I was imagining it, and weather it was worth digitally mangling the sound (having already spent quite a bit renovating an 1980's amp and speakers, the sound was already pretty much to my liking without RoomFit).

I play with EQ for fun (and more seriously for a while when room fit was less consistent), but I don't normally use it.

Perhaps this little recent glitch has an up side, I'll probably keep away from setting changes and stop second guessing myself.
