SMSL SU-1 MQA setup

Hi, I know that many of us have this combination - WiiM mini connected to SMSL SU-1 DAC. I've chosen renderer only and I get magenta light all the time. If I choose decoder, I never get magenta light but blue and green. What do you use?

Hi, I know that many of us have this combination - WiiM mini connected to SMSL SU-1 DAC. I've chosen renderer only and I get magenta light all the time. If I choose decoder, I never get magenta light but blue and green. What do you use?

By choosing Renderer the wiim will do the first unfold (core decoding), so the light is magenta as the smsl is receiving a core decoded signal.
By choosing decoder the wiim passes the signal on to the smsl unaltered, where the smsl will then perform all the decoding, allowing the blue/ green authentication status to be indicated.
Decoder would be the technically correct choice, but maybe you like magenta more - if so use renderer
