Spotify spotify connect not working

I've found that you can either go through the Spotify app and google cast it, or go to open.spotify.com in your browser (I use Chrome) and actually connect using Spotify Connect as before. This is consistent between ios and Windows 11, app does not Spotify Connect, Chrome browser does

I have no problem doing Spotify connect to my Roberts radio so this seems to be an inconsistency between Spotify app and Wiim products only. Hopefully Spotify put up a fix soon

Does the Roberts radio support Chromecast as well? If not, that might explain it as the Spotify app seems to fail if the target device supports both Connect and Chromecast

No the Roberts radio does not support Chromecast, so that may indeed explain that

This problem has been giving me grey hairs for the last few days. The connection worked through Chromecast, but not through Spotify Connect. I thought there was something wrong with my home network. Well, I hope the technicians will solve this issue soon.

Today I tried to listen to Spotify through Connect, but it doesn't work on the Wiim Ultra.
It works perfectly on other devices instead.
Does anyone have the same problem?
Followed wiim troubleshooting instructions, restarted modem and device, but nothing to do, it only connects through google cast

Read the thread. This is a Spotify issue and the WiiM support team even replied on page 1.

This was a Spotify issue with a previous Spotify app version release. The latest Android version of the Spotify app has fixed the issue, and I assume the iOS version will do the same.

WiiM were very proactive in addressing and explaining the issue here at the forum.

We recommend using Google Cast as a temporary workaround to stream Spotify on WiiM devices. We’re currently collaborating with the Spotify team to address this issue and hope to resolve it as soon as possible.

Using Google cast means lower quality and at least at the moment google assistant does not work to control spotify on wiimpro

As already said, please use Spotify connect as the latest version of the Spotify app has resolved this issue. The team's suggestion is a temporary compromise.

Google cast doesn’t mean lower quality - it can deliver up to 24/192 lossless on the Pro compared to 320kbps lossy Spotify.

Spotify could in theory decide (on their own discretion) to only provide a lower quality stream when serving it through Googlecast. Judging from my own experience, I doubt it.

Regarding the update: Reading seems to be harder than writing for some ...
