Static and Noise on New Unit

Brand new unit. I have it plugged in to my Cambridge Audio integrated amplifier via analog AUX out. The minute it was powered up I heard static/digital noise coming from the speakers. It continued throughout the setup procedure. The static noice changes in sync with the light on the front of the unit. As it flashes, the quality of the static sound changes. I could get no audio output from the unit during the latency test while doing the setup. I am using the supplied power cable and power adapter in my surge suppression power strip. I've also moved the unit around to see if it was interference from another source

Is this just a bad unit, or is there something else I should try?

I noticed that when i change tracks and the bitrate changes, i get static noise the first second of a song. Didn’t happen when i was just on the “hifi” (cd-quality) tier.. i tried sample rate switch latnecy and the fade in fade out effects, which should resovle the problem, but hasn’t. Havnt made a ticket yet. I use coax output.. Any idea?

Tidal? Not that it matters much.
What dac are you using?
Does it do the same with optical?
Static for a second or so, or a shorter sort of pop / crackle sound?

It's often an issue with the dac locking onto a new sample rate and not muting while it does so.
Edit: You could try setting a fixed sample rate in the wiim app, but I do understand some are reluctant to do so.

Hi, the dac is a Audio Gd.
The dac have not a optical input.
Not for a second, 3-4 second.
Yes, probably the dac haven’t a muting. But the noise are very high!

There are some solution?

I know that some dacs can take a significant amout of time (seconds) to lock onto new rates.
It appears that the GD may be one of those.
I'd suggest (as edited above, but too slow for your reply!) trying to fix the sample rate in the wiim app, even if just to see if it resolves your issue in the short term.
Audio Settings screen, coax output resolution. I'm assuming you have a pro or pro plus, being in this thread.

But is a loss of bit perfect (that's possibly not even noticable) combined with a loss of static better than bit perfect?

tbh, I'm not sure that this is something wiim can fix.
i.e. it doesn't seem like it's their problem to fix.
They added the latency and max/fixed output to try to alleviate the issue, and I believe that has helped many, but beyond that...?

I was going to ask if you had another source / streamer to try.
These noises are often an issue with the dac rather than the source, and sometimes a deliberate design choice.
May be worth trying to find other owners of your dac online to see if they report similar issues, or contact the manufacturer.
