Strange new issue with album covers

Recently I started having an annoying issue that was never there before (it started happening after one of the latest Wiim Home app updates).

If I minimize the home app (both on my phone and tablet), when I bring it up again (maximize) the album being played cover is gone and just a standard icon is shown on the screen. The music keeps playing but I don’t see the album cover anymore. It’s only when I select a different album that the cover comes up again.

My music is usually played through a Synology NAS, and I use MinimServer.

Is anyone having this glitch and were you able to solve it?

Hi Vignus,

I will as soon as it happens again, thank you. However, respectfully, I'd also like to hear from other users because all I usually get when I send a feedback ticket hasn't generally been very usefull so far, but more like blaming it on another device, or "we couldn't find any problem in your log", or I'm being asked questions that makes me think that my feedback wasn't carefully read.

However, I want to say that I always appreciate your team being there for users and I'm really not trying to be polemic here.

What o/s are you using? While I can’t replicate exactly what you say (also, I’m not sure what you mean by maximise/minimise on a phone/table) if I switch away to another app or back again, I don’t immediately get a cover art display if I start another instance of the WiiM app on my phone when running it ok on my iPad, and vice versa. In those instances, the cover art only displays on a track change.

I use Android 12 on my phone and 13 on my tablet, that's wiim home is installed. By minimize and maximize I mean switching to another app and later go back to the wiim app. My point, is that when I switch back to the wiim app the cover art doesn't come back until I switch to another album. This happens with both devices. And sorry for not being too clear in my issue description, English is not my first language :)

I'd say that I've been observing this behaviour since I started using the WiiM Home app, even if to varying degrees.

This could be influenced not only by the WHA version but (more likely) the Android version, the battery saver settings (which might or might not follow Android standards depending on manufacturer and version) and more hidden settings like if background auto start is allowed for the app or not.

To make matters worse these settings might be reset by updates (and certainly when removing and reinstalling the app).

I've seen similar issues with many types of apps.

This is an interesting comment, thanks for taking the time. I must say that in my case the issue surfeced only recently

don’t see the album cover anymore

I've also seen this occasionally if the WiiM Home App has been left open but is in the background. Closing the app and relaunching it brings the artwork back however. Sometimes even changing from landscape to portrait restores the artwork. I assumed it's an Android quirk.
