The sound quality streaming with HEOS on my Marantz Cinema 40 sounds much better than the Wiim connected on my Marantz Cinema 40. Am I doing something wrong, I tried all output connections on the WiiM Utra?

Maybe you simply just prefer the sound of the internal ”streamer” in the Marantz compared to the wiim?
The unit does add it’s own ”sound character” even when using digital output (according to my opinion).

In my Scenario I have active speakers with a connect box that has a BluSound module, it also sounds better than my Wiim Ultra but lacks DSP and Sub out so pick your poison ;)

Dunno.

What are you streaming?
What exactly do you mean be "all output connections"?

Hello all,

I would like to also share my experience with my Marantz 70s Stereo. I've made some different music type comparison with Deezer while using HEOS & the Wiim Pro Plus.

The sound quality from HEOS look to be much better than the sound coming from the Wiim even though it is connected with toslink. My understanding is, it should not have any differences.

However:
- All EQs turned off, the Stereo 70 is set to "Direct" mode and ES is turned off on the Wiim app
- Playing a song with Deezer on Wiim Chromecast sounds less good than Deezer playing it directly from the Wiim app
- The above sounds less good/clear/clean than HEOS directly

Am I missing something in the settings of the Wiim? The only reason of having the Wiim Pro Plus was to enjoy Deezer directly with Chromecast. I don't really like the HEOS platform.

How is Chromecast involved in your setup?

The WiiM Home app has baked in support for Deezer. You don't need the Deezer app to control the WiiM Pro Plus. Just enable the Deezer music service on the Browse tab and log in with your Deezer credentials. There might or might not be a quality setting in the settings, I don't use Deezer.

I reckon you can also connect the native Deezer app on your phone with Chromecast. In this case the Deezer app will work as a remote, telling the WiiM Pro Plus to request the music stream directly from Dexter's servers. If you happen to be on iOS there might be a quality setting inside the Google Home app for the Pro Plus. Generally speaking you have no further control about what stream quality Deezer might provide through Chromecast.

If you haven't tried using Deezer from within the WiiM Home app, go ahead and see if it makes a difference.

Thank you for your answer.

Chromecast (therefore Wiim Pro Plus) is only here to make me avoid using HEOS. No other reason than that.

When I play music with Deezer through the Wiim app, it is slightly better than CC directly. However, I am not a huge fan of Deezer user experience in the Wiim app either.

I am using an Android device.
