Switch power on & off or leave on permanently?

I switch my mini on when I switch on my Hifi and off again with the hifi.
It takes only a short time for the mini to connect. Should I be doing this or should I just keep the mini switched on permanently?
The mini uses so little power that I not switching off to save energy, merely for convenience as it's all connected on a single smart plug.
Will it shorten the life of the device being switched on & off or prolong it?

If you're concerned turning it on/off each time will shorten the mini's life then that implies you don't want to unnecessarily replace it if it dies from doing this. Yet I'd imagine the hifi that you're switching on/off too is far more expensive than the mini....
I don't know the answer; I happen to leave mine on all the time.

One other thought - when does the mini check for firmware updates?
I thought I read somewhere that it was early in the morning, although I don't know how it knows the time. Maybe it just knows from its ip address.

Yes my Hifi is more expensive than the mini but consumes 75W when switched on. There's no standby option.
I think I'll just allow it to switch on with the rest of the system.
The mini tells you in the app if there's an update.
