Tidal stuttering on Wiim Ultra sporadically

I had a small private party yesterday and the Wiim Ultra was used by Tidal Connect.

Sadly i had strong stuttering/lagging/buffering problems like i never had before this evening. When looking at the Wiim Display i could see that the "timecode" of the songs doesn't run fluid - it stopped sometimes for a part of a second, sometimes for 1-2 seconds and sometimes it stuttered...

I rebooted the Wiim, the router and checked everything. It was before guests have been here.

Internet Connection was fine and fast like it should... I ran a Tidal preset with a favourite playlist in the Machine: Same Problem....i opened Tidal through the Wiim App and even on the dedicated Smartphone App to stream to the Wiim Ultra- same stuttering problems.

Switching to Spotify or local music from the LAN - everything was fine!

Tried this morning: Tidal seems to run fine as ever...

Did anybody ever had those issues with Tidal?
I was happy to have Spotify as backup - even my playlists are not up to date... Second Fallback would have been the local Files - but these are much more outdated :-)

This was the first time iwas kinda frustrated with the Wiim - but it may was a more a problem related to the Tidal Servers - idk.

Is there any chance to troubleshoot this behavior? I would like to know what occoured this problem last evening.

Yea that's the most logical explanation for me, too.

I will keep an eye on it and hope that this won't happen frequently.

Edit: there is a speedmeter app that can show when users report errors of a specific service...

Seems like tidal had issues yesterday beginning around 19:30 (07:30 PM) - exactly the time i had those problems before the party started.

Additional note... I will try to download my favourite playlist(s) - may that will help to avoid server related problems by Tidal.

I would assume that content downloaded locally to your phone (or PC) is not used when you Tidal Connect to the WiiM Ultra. If it did, you could still play music with the cable disconnected from your router (or Internet access disabled through router config). Should be easy to test.

Hi 85mk7,

Please send us a feedback ticket, and we’ll address this issue promptly to help resolve it as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience caused!

Yesterday I was hosting a small private party and used the Wiim Ultra to connect to Tidal Connect.

Unfortunately I had serious stuttering/lag/buffering issues that I had never had before that evening. Looking at the Wiim display I could see that the "timecode" of the songs was not working smoothly - sometimes it would stop for a fraction of a second, sometimes for 1-2 seconds, and sometimes it would freeze...

I restarted the Wiim, the router and checked everything. This was before the guests arrived.

The internet connection was working fine and fast, as it should... I launched a preset Tidal playlist with my favorite playlist on my computer: Same problem... I opened Tidal via the Wiim app and even via the dedicated smartphone app to stream to the Wiim Ultra - same stuttering issues.

After switching to Spotify or local music from the LAN everything was fine!

Tried this morning: Tidal works great as always...

Has anyone ever had similar problems with Tidal?

I was glad I had Spotify as a backup - even my playlists are not up to date... Second fallback would be local files - but they are much more outdated :-)

This was the first time I was a bit disappointed with Wiim - but maybe it was more of a Tidal server issue - I don't know.

Is there any chance of a fix for this? I would like to know what caused this problem last night.
I have a similar problem, my connection between wiim/Spotify and wiim/Tidal is broken. The music seems to be playing, I can switch between songs, but I see that I have a broken connection between the applications and wiim

I keep getting "Failed to connect to server. Check your Internet connection" messages today.
It happens when I:
Start a playlist on Tidal
Select my WiimUltra
Playback starts OK
Go to play list in Tidal and select a different track
Message "Failed to connect to server. Check your Internet connection".
It's all OK if I leave the playlist / album playing.

Today I discovered that the Tidal Android app disconnects from my Lyngdorf amp (using Tidal Connect) almost every time I manually select a different track, even if it just takes seconds. Playing a full album or playlist works just fine.

Since this is happening with Tidal Connect to a (bot so cheap) non-WiiM device, I suspect that both, Tidal and Spotify, might have screwed things just recently. I yet have to try with one of my WiiMs.

This is not entirely the same issue, of course. But it's similar enough to get me alarmed.

I've had this kind of problem before with Tidal, and often it was a problem with their servers or a temporary conflict with the network. If everything is working fine now, maybe it was just a passing bug. To avoid this in the future, try changing your DNS or using a wired connection if possible. You can also test Tidal on another device when it happens to see if it's specific to Wiim Ultra.
