I'm using the Wiim Ultra optical out, going into the Fiio K11 R2R. I've read a few articles advising to change the power supply and get a ifi Power. Some suggest the Power X model, some the Power 2. Does anyone have experience with this and can advise on the differences between the two?

Thank you

bet you will get a lot answers. but not so many from people with personal experience on this specific question. the tenor will be: snake oil. mostly from couch 'audio engineers'. build your own picture! try and error is often better than advice from 'specialists'. as ivar tiefenbruner said: 'if you do not hear it you have no opinion'

I think it would be beneficial to know the rest of your system equipment and what "difference" you hear between Ultra internal DAC and the Fiio currently.

Ultimately you are the only judge of whether the addition is beneficial, so realistically you should just buy from a "free returns" seller and try it in your system before making a decision.

People who has knowledge on audio knows upgrading dac would yield minimal result then they look for upgrading power supply because they were not happy on the outcome. Even an entry dac measured extremely transparent. Speakers, room treatment and room correction are the most substantial upgrade that make huge impact.

Ive had the K11 for a long time now, i have been using it as a headphonevamp, ive just moved it into my main system, connected to the Ultra via usb, the ultra can see the Fiio but a cannot get sound out of it.
The Fiio is connected to my Arcam amp via rca cables, im really confused, i have restarted all the equipment, the fiio is set to usb in and ooutput Lo.

AFAIK the K11 requires you to toggle between headphone output (PO) and the line output (LO) on the front panel

If the k11 is set to PO (headphones) can you hear the ultra with headphones? Does it show the right sample rate for a mix of tracks?
Was the ultra previously connected to the Arcam via the same rca cables?

Once you get it working, I'd be interested to know if you'll be going direct from the ultra to the arcam or keeping the k11 in the chain.

How are you powering the K11?? Surely not via the Ultra...
