I recently purchased a WiiM amp from a friend and I've plugged Wharfedale Diamond 12.2 for my living room setup. I've had this whole setup just for few weeks now and I love it so far though I feel for my room, the bass is a little bit underwhelming. Maybe I need to tweak the settings, not sure. I will be getting a subwoofer very soon - probably ELAC SUB1010 (10") but before that I need some clarification.

My question - Would the listening experience be improved if I had gone for Wiim amp ultra? or do you think getting a subwoofer will enhance it overall. I'm just not sure if I should go for wiim amp ultra first or a subwoofer first

Thanks in advance
Cheers

There's a somewhat specific scenario that I think is often misunderstood: the use of even a relatively modest subwoofer with acoustic music (not electronic music or home theater effects), particularly to provide room volume or extend the sound of certain instruments (I'm setting aside the organ) without excessive bass.

In reality, there's very little effective level , so the subwoofers aren't being used much (even a 20/25cm driver is generally quite sufficient). However, their presence is beneficial, but here I'm really talking about frequencies below 40Hz, like 18-40Hz.

with a clean cut to reserve it for that specific use only... but indeed it won't really be audible and will only be beneficial for rather specific uses...
Extreme bass subwoofer...no bass...
And that's even if the wavelengths are such that your neighbors will, mostly, be the ones benefiting!
Hehe
(PS: It's always interesting to experiment by turning off the main speakers and observing the actual performance of the subwoofers, the actual levels, in use etc .."pedagogique" ....at realistic levels regarding our monitoring)
;-))
