Not sure if I've inadvertently changed a setting or if something may have changed in the latest firmware update.

I have a Wiim Amp Pro. I've just updated a couple of albums media tags and rescanned my USB drive and all the "Various Artists" albums have been split into separate albums for each artist. So, instead of 1 album I have 1 album for each track. They were previously OK.

Any ideas / suggestions appreciated.

If you search the forum you will find that this is considered a bug introduced with the latest feature update for USB scanning.

Regarding Bug Fix 3: "USB Media Library"

After updating the App on Android today and re-scanning the USB drive (Quick and Full Re-scan). The issue (not really a big thing) relating to Various Artist albums has changed but still isn't quite right. The album artist is stated as the artist of the first track on the album and not "Various Artists" which is the name in the album artist tags.

I've updated case #526002.

Is that on a WiiM Amp Pro (as suggested by the tagging)? Since the actual scanning and indexing is performed by the WiiM device (and then obviously cached in some way by the WiiM Home app) it could be that a further firmware update is also needed to finally fix the issue.

I'm also performing a full rescan on my Amp Pro right now (WiiM Home app 3.1.7 on Android) and will see if I end up with the same result.

Yes it is a Wiim Amp Pro.

Wiim support have asked for copies of the files. I guess so they can try and replicate.

This from Wiim Supoort:

"Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

We have successfully reproduced the issue with the tracks you provided. Our engineering team will investigate it promptly" .

We have identified the root cause and found that the artist name "Various Artist" was incorrectly treated as invalid. We will respect the original artist name in the track file and correct the logic in the next firmware update. Stay tuned!

"Various Artists" is not the only artist name potentially affected, though.

I have a couple of albums released by KEF when celebrating their 50th anniversary. All of them (all songs) have the ALBUMARTIST tag set to "KEF", but the artist of the first song is shown in the "Albums" view. The "Artists" view doesn't show any artist of this name.

I will be updating my own ticket on this topic with more details later.

Still the same problem if after a full Scan you add some other compilation album on the Hard disk drive and you do a fast Scan. For unknown reasons, the added albums fast scanned are still splitted into separate albums. So the full Scan works while the fast scan has still the same bug. Please advice.

I still have the same problem. Not sure that the release notes said anything about a fix though.

Not a problem for me now though as I've set-up Lyrion Music Server on a Raspberry Pi with the HDD now attached to that rather than the Wiim Amp Pro.

Hi williamwallace9193, team

The upcoming firmware update will resolve the issue by enabling fast scanning for newly added albums. We're planning to release it within the next two weeks.
Thank you for your patience and continued support—stay tuned!

I reckon, this improvement will come to all three devices, the WiiM Amp Pro, the WiiM Amp and the WiiM Ultra?
