Good afternoon, I'm new to this WiiM Ultra Music Streamer thing, I just got it a few days ago and I'm testing it and I can hardly find the point of the HDMI ARC port on the Ultra, ok it's to connect to the TV but from there what else it does, how can I take advantage of that port built in as IN Input on the Ultra, can someone give me some tips so I can try it in other ways and what it's used for even more

If your TV has an HDMI ARC output, you can control the volume of the WiiM Ultra (when used as a preamp) using your TV remote, Google Chromecast remote, Apple TV remote, or other compatible controllers instead of using the Wiim remote control, which it will remove the necessity of have 2 controls. Additionally, the WiiM Ultra features Dolby Digital decoding,

Hi,

As you said, the HDMI ARC on the Ultra is (most probably) for connecting to a TV. The audio signal coming out of the TV can be played back on Ultra.

Audio from devices connected to the HDMI input terminal of the TV (such as FireTV stick or apple TV) can also be played on Ultra.

However, Ultra cannot send or receive video signals, nor can it output video or audio through HDMI.

In my opinion, the HDMI ARC port on the Ultra Is pointless, and remains unused on my Ultra, and also on my Amp. I'm fully aware that many forum users will disagree with my opinion, for whatever reason, but they are welcome to their opinion.

HDMI ARC offers no benefits for me at all, and seems to cause issues for many forum users.

Many of the features of the WiiM devices are "pointless" for different users. That's the nice things about these devices, that they're fitting the need of many users in different ways.

I'm one of those, HDMI ARC input on the WiiM Amp Pro was one of the crucial selling points for me. :)
Luckily no issues so far - WiiM Amp Pro perfectly integrated to my system, and simplified it significantly.

This is the primary use right here. On the WiiM Ultra, and WiiM Amp Pro, HDMI ARC is an input to bring TV audio into the WiiM setup with high quality and low latency. There are some other neat things you can do with HDMI through CEC, but it's not a feature or use for everyone.

Yes, you could potentially use HDMI from a non-TV source but not all HDMI connections are HDMI ARC, so make sure you're checking specs (even from TVs).

Like @hgo58 suggests, not every feature is for everyone, but we make these products for everyone to enjoy with a wide range of use cases. Just because a feature isn't for you, doesn't make it pointless.
