Considering one of these amps. It has everything I need but I'm concerned about the volume control and visibility. What are people's experience with the leds? Do they feel like a good way of gauging volume? Do you miss a dedicated volume screen like the wiim ultra or other preamps?

Welcome.

I thought I would miss a "real" volume control, but I feel the leds work well enough. They are certainly bright enough when a few of them start to get lit up, although I have mine set to turn them off when not actively adjusting the volume.
To a degree, I actually think it's better than the Ultra 0-100 number.
The ultra numbers can jump a few at a time (yes, there are ways around that), but with the leds they just get a bit brighter / dimmer so there's no specific OCD trigger ;)
Although there are 6 main leds, each of them gradually changes as they seem to have 7 brightness levels.

You actually attempted to count the brightness levels of the LEDs? 🤓

If someone ever calls me obsessed with details again I'll point them straight here. Totally agree in terms of content. Changes feel smooth and sufficiently precise. Usually I need just a rough orientation of the setting and a visible confirmation that the remote did actually got my button press. The WiiM Amp and the WiiM Amp Pro both give me that feedback.

And I never wrote "attemted". Look for yourself. 😇
You forgot to edit my post in your reply!

Anyway, enough frivolity.
I like the leds, just not that, imo, they stay on far too long after adjusting the volume.
One day, wiim will implement one of my suggestions, I'm sure...

@Snuffalo_BIll, don't think we're making fun of you or your question.

We are just totally relaxed and in a chilly mood because the volume control LEDs work really well on the WiiM Amp and the WiiM Amp Pro. :)

I would prefer it if they didn't illuminate near the end of every local track I play using Squeezelite.
