What are you listening to?

Last Friday was the relative intimacy of Robin Trower at The Picturedome, Holmfirth. Tonight it’s the 28,000 seater Co-op Live and Eagles supported by The Doobie Brothers.

The acoustics at the newly opened Co-op Live Arena in Manchester are really quite remarkable. Don Henley commented as much. Brilliant show.

Listening to The Sensual World by Kate Bush. I don't know how to grab a screenshot or I would have. Some of you guys have some fairly eclectic tastes and it's giving me great ideas to listen to. I am trying to expand my listening past "dad rock" if you know what I mean.

Playing with a Tidal-to-WiiM Chrome extension for londonjazzcollector, a very informative and comprehensive site for jazz fans.

Two great listens last night.

Firstly, and sadly I don’t believe this is available for streaming, a real treat for all Buddy Holly fans - a new, alternative Chirping Crickets CD, with three new mixes of the album.

The original has been ‘de-mixed’, and then the following created : 1 - A new mono mix, 2 - A new (and for the first time) a stereo mix, and 3 - a new mix sans the backing vocal overdubs. Quite wonderful.

Secondly, the complete Beatles Rooftop Perfirmance. Again, quite wonderful.

A joyful evening’s listening.
