What are you listening to?

Got the house to myself this morning. ♪ Playing You Got It by Average White Band from Average White Band (1974) (Local • 833kbps VBR, 16bit, 44.1kHz, 3.93dB, FLC)

This is a needledrop from my original vinyl copy bought probably in 74 or 75 in either Epsom, Surrey or Ewell, Surrey. I have a vague leaning towards The Turntable, Ewell where I frequented at around that time on my way home from college. The bus stop was just round the corner.

I take it you went to Ewell Tech?

I was there in 1984/5 doing a business studies course to supplement my electrical engineering qualifications to help me get a promotion into management.

I too have fond memories of browsing the records in The Turntable.

I did but 10 years prior to you but actually I think we both went to NESCOT but forever known as Ewell Tech

One of the many new exciting pianists with a very demanding program.
Thanks, reminds me of the music my mother used to listen to a lot when I was young. Quite nice, though I usually prefer the freedom inherent in jazz.

In that case the Jazz Suite from Tsfasman has at least the word jazz in its title on this album ;-)
A composer from whom I never heard a single note before.

Does creating some controversy help?

OK, let's go then. Better than Joy Division 😁👌😁 so if you like that for sure give this Belgian "post punk" band a spin.

Even when its already 150 years old it still sounds modern.
Three versions, each has its merits.
The original one for the piano, the Ravel orchestrated one and ELPs rock version.

This is FLAC from a CD copy. I have an original vinyl copy but IMO the idea to pack 20 tracks onto a single disc rather backfired in terms of SQ so I generally and unusually prefer to play the CD version in this particular case. Elvis’s fourth album.

♪ Playing Love for Tender by Elvis Costello & The Attractions from Get Happy!! (1980) (Local • 1011kbps VBR, 16bit, 44.1kHz, -6.52dB, FLC)

Most of those tracks are around 2 minutes though. I have a Vinyl single album with 20 tracks which lasts 70 minutes. It is fairly quiet 🤣
