Gordon Giltrap - Visionary (...great album, atmospheric guitar instrumentals, full band)
I always listened to the Alan Freeman Saturday show on Radio 1, he played the most interesting new music that appealed to my tastes.
Occasionally something came on that made me completely stop what I was doing & none more so than Lucifers Cage & The Tyger (two of the heaviest tracks on the album) played back to back. As a Cardiff Uni student at the time I immediately went down to Spillers Records and bought the LP.
Years later at the Acoustic Festival of Britain, Giltrap played to a small crowd in a teepee and for his encore asked if there were any requests. Calling out loudly, i got both of these back to back... extended versions too!
(...the next two albums Perilous Journey & Fear Of The Dark follow in a similar vein, containing some very dramatic material)
