...if I had thought about it beforehand, I could have done that. But I didn't, because I didn't have any bad intentions and I don't think that covers, which are also shared publicly on online streaming services and music portals, are in any way offensive. What's your problem with that? Do you think anyone here feels inspired to go out and commit a terrible crime?Well, you could always use your own judgement about posting dubious covers. The problem is that there is no way another user can avoid the image once it's posted.
I don't question your intentions. I agree that there were different standards when some of these covers were produced. However, contemporary mores would likely judge these as unacceptable. It's a difficult area. For example Kanye West's album 'Bully' was modified as it used the swastika: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:BULLY_(Kanye_West_Swastika_Cover_Art).jpg...if I had thought about it beforehand, I could have done that. To be clear: I despise people who abuse children, I despise all forms of violence and injustice. What exactly do you want to discuss with me in a forum that is about the art form of music and its presentation? From now on, only good old Frank Sinatra or cat covers?![]()
Unfortunately, it is increasingly common for the quality of the music to be lacking (style is, of course, a matter of taste) and for “musicians” to have to draw attention to themselves or their product in other ways. Provoking, making a name for themselves at the expense of others, normalizing offensive behavior, lots of naked skin, violence, etc. With everything that's going on in the world, nothing really surprises me anymoreI don't question your intentions. I'm sure there are other examples of inappropriate imagery in album cover art.
