hi,
What is the difference between pregain and volume in wiim ultra?
Currently, I am using pregain -10db. Even if I use it at -10db, I use the default volume of wimm ultra from 25 to 40.
Would it be better to use pregain at 0db and keep the volume low?

Pre-gain is a feature designed to reduce volume differences between inputs.

Yes, after resetting the pre-gain to 0 dB, use the "Volume limit" and "Volume knob" to set the base volume for the Wi-Fi input.

If there is a volume difference with other inputs you use, you can adjust it using the pre-gain.

Can setting the low pre-gain low decrease the chance of distortion and or clipping?
Thanks in advance...
As far as I understand, there is no issue as long as the pre-gain is 0 dB or lower. If you set the pre-gain to +1 dB or higher, you will need to lower the volume limit. If you set the pre-gain for any input to +10 dB, I recommend setting the volume limit to 83% or lower.

Here is the calculation formula:

dB / 0.6 = %

For +10 dB: 10/0.6 = 17%, 100 - 17 = 83%

Similarly, if you increase the gain using EQ or RoomFit, you need adjust the volume limit accordingly.
