That's okay

. I'm just too long in the tooth to hear & see anything 'progressive' in contemporary music. You like it so enjoy. I doubt any of it will endure beyond a few years & will suffer the same fate as 1000s of crap tunes from the 60s onwards. Sophistication has nothing to do with it.
However, there have been moments when the music could genuinely be described as progressive, eg. Music protesting against war (particularly Vietnam), blues protesting race discrimination, punk music, some German New Wave, etc. These had an impact on societal change. Almost certainly some contemporary music/bands will be seen in retrospect as having had a progressive impact. I admit that I don't hear or see it as yet...
