At this point, I don't see any reason to simply discontinue older AirPlay-compatible devices. It's up to you to explain why they shouldn't do it. How many more years will they keep their products going, "piling up" old models, etc.?

Hopefully, if new products are coming... it will be AirPlay again...At this point, I don't see any reason to simply discontinue older AirPlay-compatible devices.
Hmm..... you might want to go back and read our posts.... particularly mine about this.
I mean, you just joined... in particular, you might want to read the comments EVERYWHERE in the forums about using external DACs and better audio boards and balanced I/O for

No. I really don’t particularly want to go back and read every post, particularly yours. While I am sure someone important has designated you “valued contributor” for good reason, I doubt that is for your tendency to tear down the ideas of others. Just a thought. But what do I know? As you said, I am new around here. Perhaps that is a highly valued quality in Wiim forum. Guess I’ll never fit in around here.Hmm..... you might want to go back and read our posts.... particularly mine about this.

Amazing. The updates you proposed, better DAC, better output, balanced IO, are great ideas. I completely agree with them.
But, to be honest, you can just simply ignore all of that and run an external USB DAC.
IMHO, the more I think about it, the more I see updates to the firmware ( direct bit perfect to USB ) and fixing WiiM Ultra in the PC so that it's stable and identical in look and feel to the Android version.
Why, on the contrary, consider using an external DAC?
Its added cost, the cable hassles, especially if it has nothing to do with upstream processing...
the audio section is internal, just slightly improved and enhanced...
Just thinking about a more mature "ultra " in "audio" without a significant price increase is a nice topic...
;-)
The question isn't about your or my personal " needs".. yours "dada" .. ;-)One reason I can see - and the reason I'm still using my CA DAC is keeping mains power away from the equipment. I personally rather have the mains separated to a wall wart, especially if the enclosures are small and PSU and audio components are relatively near each other. Of course, there are mains purifiers available.
On that topic, maybe a new Ultra with external PSU?
End of 2029, as far as software security updates for these products go, even if they are no longer made.Wiim is prohibited from discontinuing its old products for how much longer?

The thing that changes the price of fish is when customers stop buying a particular model. Then it makes sense to withdraw one. That's not really related to my point, which was a bit ironic about the idea of necessarily keeping the old models in production... and not defining a new range or withdrawing old references if there are "duplicates" coming...
You can decide to remove some to highlight/highlight others... "fresher ones"The thing that changes the price of fish is when customers stop buying a particular model. Then it makes sense to withdraw one.
