What's changed in the WiiM Home App for Windows beta version 0.2.3 ???

It is not very functional this WHA for Windows right? My windows app doesn't detect what music is playing if i started from other place, like android phone, remote on ultra or screen...Does not show my streaming services, just Qobuz and Radio Paradise. I can't see Amazon music, TuneIn, Open Network Streams ...nothing. Also the music that i start from the app with Radio Paradise for example, remains stuck with now playing info (art and track info) of the very first track played, when radio changes track it doesn't get updated...
I mean...i would rather prefer Wiim App for TV and Fire TV, it is not functional to start media playing just Now Playing info and control on inputs/outputs, EQ etc...but much better than windows I my opinion.

Really slow...las time i tested like a year ago was more or less the same...but it is also quite a nosense for me what is implemented and what it is not.. it can access read and edit all the settings of my hardware wiim mini and ultra .. but it can't browse and start playback from the music services. i got only added radio paradise not sure how...also does not notice if music started to play in a device..also does not refresh track info... it is useless other than playing music stored in the Windows machine.
In a first approach i would like to have at least same functionality as android TV/Fire TV. Kind of minimal Now Playing feature plus some input/output, eq functions...then second step to make it as similar to mobile wiim home app.
I can't understand why it would be more prioritary in the Windows app development to have accesible the possibility to control the line out voltage of my wiim device 2mV than being able to start playing amazon music or or any other service i wish or getting real time track info on what is playing in my wiim device if starts playing from my mobile(because i can't start streaming on my devices from windows!)

A year ago you couldn't use any music service, IIRC.

That's for sure, and it's a bummer.
I stubbornly continue to use WHW as my Wiim interface of election. 😄
 I love your approach. (y) Even if I don't care much about the Windows app. It's a bit like leaving th house without an umbrella to force the weather into being friendly. ;)

Per Google AI, we already have everything that we wanted...
  • WiiM Pro Plus & WiiM Ultra: The WiiM Home app for Windows provides full, native control over streaming services, offering a very user-friendly interface that lets you browse and play directly from the app.
But then the same Google AI query got it wrong that EverSolo and BlueOS and Cambridge also have well-developed Windows Apps, too.
Shows that it just isn't a Priority in the Streamer Hardware market...

I have it installed on my desktop and it leaves me totally puzzled. It takes about a full minute to open and I can't find any way to check for updates, no version no info but it does give a last updated time of 2025-05-13 17:07:20 and whatever the last bit means I have no idea. It is simply the slowest bit of software I have encountered since I left DOS all those years ago. I wanted to use it on an old laptop in my workshop but I can't find any of my playlists on it. I do not carry a mobile phone as my life is simpler without it so I thought the Windows app would be the answer but apparently not and WIIM obviously don't sem interested so why did they even bother developing a Windows version at all?

It feels to me like a pet/sideline project for a developer to do when he isn't fully occupied elsewhere...

Does carrying a Windows laptop make life easier? ;)

Seriously, it's beta software and this is clearly stated. It has low priority and that's it. The current version is 0.2.4.1 and I don't think that this version number is displayed in the GUI anywhere. You can open the folder containing the log files by hitting the question mark icon and the latest log created after starting the app does contain the version number, pretty much in the first line.

The app is not a functional replacement for the mobile apps but I cannot say it'd run particularly slow on my laptop.

I have a laptop permanently in the workshop. I have not installed it on my workshop laptop and you could be right about whether it is even possible. I guess WiiM are avoiding this thread, how surprising! They should man up and explain their view on whether it will ever be developed to the point it is usable or they will abandon further work on it.

Ask them directly then via the "contact us" link at the bottom of the page...
