Hi

Yes, you can create a Wireless Dolby 5.0ch group by using 2 WiiM Sound Lite units as rear speakers and 1 as the center speaker. A subwoofer is required for 5.1ch.

Please note that RoomFit and EQ are disabled in Wireless Dolby groups.

Hi thanks for reply am i right in thinking you would only need wiim amp you were using passive fronts ?

In that scenario, there are actually six discrete channels as you would have with an AVR?

If you read this carefully, you should understand.🙂

If 2 active speakers and a subwoofer are wired to the Ultra, it's a 2.1 system. When 3 WiiM Sound are wirelessly connected (grouped) to this setup, it becomes an independent 5.1 system.

And that could/would be a persistent setup that could be a preset grouping?
Unless you unlink the group, you can maintain this group almost persistently. (Same as conventional multi-room groups.)

However, if the group is unlinked for any reason, you may need to re-assign the center speaker when re-linking.

Ah, thank you. I've read that post a few times but was considering it only with passive speakers. I didn't find any value in having the displays on a center and the two rear surrounds in a 5.1, but with the Wiim Sound Lite I'm reconsidering this option. Seems for me a much better idea than three pre/amps.
