Hi there, hoping someone can help with this.

My friend has a couple of Sonos ceiling speakers but a not so good amp and using Spotify via Bluetooth so the sound he's getting is not great.

He has good WiFi there so I suggested a Wiim device, DAC etc connected to Wi-fi so he can use Tidal (I've converted him already) via the Wiim Home App.

The question I have is would the Wiim Amp suffice and would it work with this or would the Wiim Amp Pro be a marked difference? For info, it's a business premises not a dwelling so no need for volume or oomph, but he does like clarity and I'm slowly getting him into Hi-Res sound and options to enhance his aural experience.

Thanks in advance - any other options would be helpful if the above just wouldn't work :)

Cheers

WiiM Amp/Amp Pro seems like the easy choice. Plug and play.
Other options could be WiiM Pro/Pro+/Ultra plus a different standalone amp, +/- a standalone DAC if you want to add even more complexity.

I have ceiling speakers in my kitchen where there is usually some other noise. I use a WiiM Pro and a separate Topping amp that I already had but I could have used a WiiM Amp. I wouldn't bother with a WiiM Amp Pro in a kitchen so really depends where these in ceiling speakers are located.

Awesome - thanks for that, I was possibly over complicating things in my head but seems like a simple add-on for not a lot of money :)
Personally I have a Wiim PP and a pair of active QA M20 HD with a QA QB12 sub - sounds awesome.
Big learning curve for me, and I only found out that to use the DAC in the Wiim PP I needed to use RCA cable and not Toslink lol - opened up a whole new world of options :)

Thanks again... now to see if the extra money is worth spending on the Pro rather than just the stand Wiim Amp ;-)

Thanks for that - he's in a hair salon for mainly young people so there's always a good music vibe in there which is why he's keen to up the sound quality - he noticed this afternoon the difference between Spotify and Tidal connect - and that's even using Bluetooth and not Wifi (which he will do when using the Wiim App) - It's all good fun !! Cheers.

There will be enormous levels of "chatter" in that environment so definitely don't bother with a WiiM Amp Pro unless you want to waste money. WiiM Amp if you must but a WiiM Pro and separate amp will be cheaper and as long as it is configured to auto switch on it will be fine. In a noisy environment makes no sense in chasing the highest quality audio. I am not surprised he noticed a difference over Bluetooth though.
